Nguvu Health, a leading provider of mental health care and therapy for Africans - home and abroad- through the Nguvu Health App, and Thepeer, a technology infrastructure enabling fast, direct and efficient transactions between businesses and platforms, today announced the availability of an integration between the two development environments. This integration will improve access to teletherapy by making it easy for customers to fund their Nguvu wallet or pay for teletherapy.

The direct connection between Nguvu Health, and Thepeer’s payment API allows users of the Nguvu Health App to optimize therapy through quick payment options.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted critical mental health services in 93% of countries, particularly in Africa, at the same time as the demand for mental health programmes is increasing, according to a new WHO survey. As technology is being simulated in health to improve access to mental health, issues like network fluctuation and payment limitations inhibit access to therapy.

With the integration of Thepeer into the Nguvu Health App, users are able to make payments for therapy from any existing external wallets or business accounts registered on Thepeer. This adds to the already existing payment options to pay with either a bank card or coin. Simply put, this integration benefits our users - individuals, corporate bodies, companies, schools, families and government - by providing easy and quick payment options to access therapy. Ultimately, this shortens therapy-to-health timelines, provides better health quality, reduced physical prototyping time and costs, and faster realization of an optimal health system.

“About 100 million Africans dealing with mental health issues have limited access to mental health care and cannot afford the available care. With Nguvu Health providing easy and affordable access to mental health care, restrictions with paying for teletherapy need to be addressed. Hence, this integration of Thepeer into the Nguvu Health App couldn’t have come at a better time than now. We look forward to how this benefits our users.”

said Juliet Odumosu, Cofounder of Nguvu Health.

“With over 7 million Nigerians said to be battling depression, there’s a need for easier access to mental health services like Nguvu Health. This integration with Thepeer makes paying for therapy a whole lot easier as any Nguvu Health customer can now pay for teletherapy from any business available on Thepeer. This is something we are very pleased about.”

said Chike Ononye, Founder/CEO of Thepeer.

The integration, developed by Nguvu Health in support with Thepeer, is part of the Nguvu Health product suite. Thepeer will offer the integration starting with version 1.27 of the Nguvu Health App.
